mecca is an adult-only, destination hotel located in the scenic beach town of Playa Negra, Puerto Viejo Costa Rica. Created by an African-American woman who fell in love with the Southern Caribbean lifestyle of Costa Rica, mecca is a place of peace, relaxation and rejuvenation. At mecca, we specialize in providing curated vacation experiences for discerning guests, especially solo travelers and couples.

mecca

Owner, Kim Hassan, a former corporate attorney left the bustling lifestyle of Washington, DC to gain peace and to finally learn to relax. She relocated to the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica to a small town named Playa Negra (Black Beach). But before Kim leaned into her Pura Vida life, she embarked on her passion project, mecca.

At mecca, we have three, cozy en suite rooms and two casitas that mix modern and traditional finishes featuring cool black and whites with warm wood accents. Original exposed beams and hardwood floors combined with local textiles and artwork highlight the unique native architecture. The property features murals painted by local artist, Erik Hernandez. mecca is located in Playa Negra on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. When you land in San Jose at SJO airport, you are in the central region of the country. There are several options for travel. Use the mode of transport that best suits you. All offer picturesque views of the mountains and jungle.
